About this site
Let's be honest: I'm obsessed with technology.
There's a unique satisfaction that comes from building something with your own hands—whether that’s a piece of code that automates a tedious task, or a server humming away in the basement that you built from the ground up. This space, Hewserv, is my digital workshop and my outlet for that obsession.
Even if no one else reads what I put out here, this blog is my way of documenting the projects, the successes, and the inevitable (but valuable) failures. But my real hope is that there are others like me—the enthusiasts who spend their weekends tinkering with a new Docker container or planning their next network upgrade. Maybe we can form a little community or something.
By day, my career is in marketing leadership, but the common thread has always been using technology to solve complex problems. This blog is the home for that side of my brain, where I get to dive deep into the technical weeds and explore the tools and systems that I find fascinating. It’s a better illustration of who I am as a person than a resume could ever be.
When I’m not in front of a screen, you can usually find me out on my motorcycle, exploring the backroads of Minnesota. The feeling of freedom and the mechanical connection to the machine is a different kind of tech, but it comes from the same place of passion.
So, whether you're a fellow homelabber, a Python enthusiast, or just curious about the world of self-hosting, I'm glad you're here.
For my full professional background, you can find my resume and portfolio over at nathanhewett.com.
Otherwise, feel free to connect. Let's geek out together.
